The table of contents is generally automatically created by the presentation system. You generally do not need to create the table of contents yourself.

Introduction texts for a document like prefaces are represented by ToCfront entries and conclusion texts like the bibliography are represented by ToCback entries. Theses two entries - ToCfront and ToCback - can not contain other table of contents elements. For this reaason, they are not appropriate for elements of the document containing sections.

Texts of the document body are represented by ToCpart and ToCchap elements, representing respectively parts and chapters. These elements contain at least a table of contents entry (ToCentry), followed by any number of table of contents elements of lower level.

The table of contents elements of lower level are ToClevel1, ToClevel2, ToClevel3, ToClevel4 and ToClevel5.
