L'élément Chapter définit un chapitre de livre.

Un chapitre est constitué :

• de métainformations pour un chapitre (ChapterInfo),

• d'un titre (Title) obligatoire, d'un sous-titre (SubTitle) et titre abrégé (TitleAbbrev), facultatifs,

• d'un nombre quelconque de tables des matières (ToC), liste de tables (LoT), index (Index), glossaires (Glossary) et bibliographies (Bibliography), dans un ordre quelconque.

• d'une table des matières pour le chapitre (ToCchap), facultative,

• du contenu du chapitre, sous la forme d'une première partie sous la forme d'éléments de type bloc, facultatifs, suivie d'une ou plusieurs sections (au moins une s'il n'y a pas de première partie), de type Sect1, RefEntry, SimplSect ou Sect.

• d'un nombre quelconque de tables des matières (ToC), liste de tables (LoT), index (Index), glossaires (Glossary) et bibliographies (Bibliography), dans un ordre quelconque.
